It’s great to give your bearded dragon fruit as treat. Fruit really is a marvellous gift of nature. So many varieties and so much sweet flavour. Mr Bearded Dragon loves his fruit and sometimes can’t believe that it often grows on trees! He dreams of retiring to a quaint old semi-tropical paradise and starting his own orchard, gently munching on the fruits of his labour and running around chasing bugs. But let’s not go off script to much. We’re talking bearded dragon fruit here.

So, what fruit can bearded dragons eat? This is an important question to ask when adding any new fruit item into your beard dragon’s diet. In this section will take a brief look at which fruits are great for your bearded dragons.

These bearded dragon fruit are great for occasional treats to make a great bearded dragon diet.

Recommended fruits include: apples, apricot, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, cranberries, figs, grapes, grapefruit, guava, mangos, melons, papayas, peaches, prickly pears, pineapple, plums, prunes, raisins, strawberries, watermelon.

It’s worth noting that if you feed them grapes the skin should be peeled and removed beforehand. This also applies to kiwi fruits, apples and pears.

However, there are some fruits that you should avoid feeding your bearded dragon at all times. Citric fruits are difficult for bearded dragon’s to digest in their stomachs, they really should be avoided.

Fruits you should avoid include: oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, lemons and limes.

And now you know what fruit bearded dragons can eat. Giving your bearded dragon fruit can be a nice occasional treat but remember the other food groups need more attention. Keep a nice balance and you’ll see your bearded dragon flourish. Simples.
